Groundswell is making entrepreneurship more inclusive.

Money can be a big barrier to taking ownership of your future - whether you’re starting a business, pursuing self-employment, or trying to get a community project off the ground. Since nearly half of all Canadians will be independently employed by 2020, we want to teach and enable more people to prepare for this shift NOW.

That’s why Groundswell has partnered with local foundations and socially-minded financial institutions like Vancity to make this next step more accessible. The real delivery cost of our program is more than double what we charge as tuition fees. Thanks to our community partners, we’re able to subsidize this cost and start to shift some of the systemic barriers that keep people from meaningfully participating in the economy.

*NEW for FALL 2019* You can now pay your tuition fees in installments.

How does the tuition microloan work?

If you’ve got big ideas and limited resources, the Vancity Microloan designed specially for Groundswell participants can help you pay tuition fees with a flexible, low-interest loan - and improve your credit rating too.

There’s no fee to apply and a payment schedule will be created with you, taking your budget and entrepreneurial plans into consideration. For example, a three year microloan for $3500 at the low interest rate of Prime + 3% will have a payment of about $100 per month. And there’s no penalty for paying your loan back earlier as your venture takes off.

How do I qualify for a bursary?

Applications for bursaries will open again in 2020. The best way to get started is to tell us a little bit about yourself and attend one of our free Discover Groundswell sessions in the meantime. Then you'll be one of the first to know when the bursary application process opens again.
