Bookkeeping Basics for Early Stage Social Ventures

  • Groundswell 268 Keefer Street, Unit #421 Vancouver, BC, V6A 1X6 Canada (map)

Get your books in a row!

Not always the most fun part of running a small business, but knowing how to keep track of your money is a critical skill. Even if you outsource your accounting, understanding how to read statements and what's happening in the books is critical to maintain control of your operations. Come to learn from the ground up, get a refresher, and bring those nasty spreadsheets with you!

With accountant Jessica Somers of Cordova Street Consulting. Jessica has over ten years of experience advising freelancers, entrepreneurs and small businesses in Vancouver on tax, accounting, and business process.

As founder of Cordova Street Consulting, Jessica is working to change the landscape of tax advising from a black box to an open conversation. Jessica approaches clients from a perspective of knowledge sharing, outreach, and taking the stress and mystery out of tax!

In the workshop, Jessica will be offering know-how on three bookkeeping methods:

  1. Bare bones (Excel)

  2. Cheap (Wave, an unsophisticated, free, online bookkeeping program)

  3. Ideal (Quickbooks, paid subscription, easier to use and more robust)

Open to everyone! Registration is sliding scale. Only $10 for Groundswell Members!

Plus: Follow up Workshop on August 22!

On August 22 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, we will be hosting a follow-up workshop with Jessica to take you to the next level of clarity and comfort with your books.
