How confident do you feel asking for money, even if you know you’re going to do great things with it?
At this Saturday workshop, we are fortunate to have Vancity staff offer us a full day of the ins and outs of loans for social ventures and small businesses. You’ll get a chance to pitch a business idea to lending experts in a casual, friendly environment and get their feedback for a successful loan application, and answers to any questions about loans and lending that you’ve been afraid to ask - until now!
Groundswell is known for it’s safe social atmosphere and warm environment. Join our cohort of budding social entrepreneurs for what might just be the friendliest workshop about money in town. With Vancity, you’ll be in good hands!

Workshop content & schedule:
Programme starts at 10:00 am
Presentation: “Ten Things A Lender Looks For”
Two minute pitch from each participant covering your venture idea and financial needs.
Add a lunch voucher to your Eventbrite RSVP for $12 (advance sales only!) or brown bag it.
Complete round of 2 minute pitches.
Join a small group with one Vancity staff person and get the chance to present a longer pitch of your venture (up to 5 minutes) that includes why someone should invest in your venture! You’ll get feedback from an expert and get to dig into the projects at your table, to discover what you need to best make the case for lenders.
“There-are-no-stupid-questions Panel” to wrap the day.
Here is your chance to ask those questions you’ve always wondered about, or that come up over the course of the day: What are interest rates for a small loan? What happens if you don't pay? Can my mom co-sign my business loan? When it is time to open a business account for my start-up?
Questions will be collected throughout the day and written on cards so you can remain anonymous if you desire.
Workshop ends at 4:00 pm.
